Anticipation is at fever pitch ahead of the 48th annual Firefly Southwestern Championship this weekend (25th-27th of May 2019) at Restronguet Sailing Club, Cornwall.

For Firefly sailors, the South Westerns is a right of passage! Our Salcombe Week, only with more consistent wind and less string! For those who havent been before, this classic three-day race weekend offers close sailing, glorious sunshine, legendary socials and great beer and pasties - all in the beautiful setting of Carrick Roads! What better way to spend your bank holiday weekend.

Competitors can expect tight, well managed racing from Restronguet Sailing Club's experienced race team. Eight races (including Sunday's National Singlehanded Championship race) are planned over the three days.

There's also plenty nearby for non-sailors to enjoy with the beautiful surroundings of West Cornwall on your doorstep as well as sunny Falmouth just a few minutes down the road.

Off the water there's a relaxed social program including Saturday meal at the club and Sunday 'big one' at the Lemon Arms in Mylor Bridge, all topped off with the fabled Monday afternoon cream tea and Ladies dinner for those avoiding the post-bank-holiday exodus.

This year prizes have been generously provided by class sponsor Ronstan and we have loads of goodies to give away.

It IS a long way but certainly worth it for a cold pint or 6 (or more, just saying) at the Lemon Arms and great racing from a fabulously welcoming club in beautiful, scenic Cornwall. And hey, with sunshine and top sailing guaranteed, where else would you want to be this bank holiday weekend!
