The RS Elite fleet will hold its first championship event of 2019 at Bembridge Sailing Club. The Southern Area championship will take place over the weekend of 1st and 2nd of June with three races each on the Saturday and Sunday.

The club will host a buffet dinner for the fleet on Saturday evening after racing. Races will be held over windward-leeward courses in the East Solent and Bembridge Bay area. The event will form part of the RS Elite Association's Grand Slam series.

Swinging moorings will be provided for competitors in the Under Tyne mooring area near the Bembridge Lifeboat Station and a launch service will be available to ferry competitors to their boats.

This will be the third time that the RS Elite fleet has visited the East Wight area and the second time that the Southern Area championship has been held there. The past events have proved popular with visiting RS Elites from the Cowes and Hayling Island fleets for whom the venue is easily accessible by water. The fleet has enjoyed good racing and excellent socialising in past years and can look forward to an action-packed weekend this year.

Full details of the event including Notice of Race, sailing instructions, entry form and a list of accommodation in the Bembridge area are all available on the RS Elite class website rselite.org

Sunshine, good Easterly breezes and fantastic courses again Again, sunshine, good Easterly breezes and fantastic courses best describe day 4 of Burnham Week 2019. The haze meant visibility was short and at times murky, but this didn't detract at all from a great day. Posted on 27 Aug
