The first of this season's London Sailing League took place on Sunday 28th April at Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre (HOAC), an event to allow participants from London-based clubs and RYA Centres to take part in class racing in a relaxed and friendly environment in different locations across the capital.

The forecast looked good for the day with a nice wind which was perfect for the competitors.

Twenty sailors took to the water in Lasers, Toppers, and Teras with visitors from other centres come to participate in four short races around the cans. The Race Officer set a course around the lake in a clockwise direction; the first few boats forgot the course allowing the others to catch up and causing them to be disqualified. The race leaders of the second race managed to keep their leads to finish before we broke for lunch.

The two races before lunch, were dominated by Curtis in the Laser fleet, and Thomas Stark in the Topper fleet with the boats behind fighting for positions through the race.

After lunch race officer set a new course which the sailors managed to work out well. The wind was gusty and there was a few capsizes. Well done to all the participants of the first event; prizes were given across the fleets and spot prizes awarded by the race team.

Next Event is Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre on the 18th May.
