Nordic Folkboat Lymington Saturday Series - Race 3

by Chris Baldwick 13 May 2019 15:52 BST 11 May 2019

Nine Nordic Folkboats came to the start line for the third race of the Royal Lymington Yacht Club Saturday Series.

In a nice north easterly breeze, and warm sunshine, the Race Officer, Malcolm McKeag set a short beat to the entrance to the Lymington River followed by a rum out to Mark D (Yacht Haven).

There followed a couple of beats and runs to the East of the river before the fleet returned to the River Finish Line.

Bonnie made a cracking start at the Committee boat end of the line only to then have spinnaker issues at the top mark, which dropped her down to last place! In the meantime, Madelaine had an uncharacteristically poor start, but proceeded to make her way up the fleet by picking the wind shifts on the second beat to Pylewell.

At the finish, Madelaine was in the lead but had failed to pass through the final gate to the finishing line and duly retired.

This left Mistral as the winner, followed by Moonstone in second and Lady Linda in third.
