The 420 class were invited to attend Notts County SC's Junior Sailing Festival, held at the club on Monday 6 May. Two boats were taken to the event, with class sailors Ellie Clark and Daisy Desorgher attending to showcase the boat and the class.
The event was the inspiration of the Club Commodore, Kathryn Hinsliff-Smith, and provided an opportunity for junior members of the club to get out on the water and try different boats including Scorpion, Stratos, RS200, RS600, 29er and the 420.
Signing up to book a slot, the large number of participants were soon out on the water or waiting for their turn to go out and the two 420 dinghies were kept busy throughout the day, with the girls quickly getting novice crews up to speed with the spinnaker and encouraging them to try trapezing.
Some were keen to helm too. Light winds after lunch gave a chance for some land drills before the wind picked up and the day ended with a lovely breeze providing great sailing conditions.
