Hat-trick award success for the Ocean Race on global sporting stage

The Ocean Race has secured another major prize at a prestigious global sport awards ceremony – making it three big wins in just seven days.

At the 2019 Yahoo Sports Technology Awards event in London on Thursday, The Ocean Race fought off competition from some of sport's biggest events – including Major League Baseball and NASCAR – to scoop the win in the Rights Holder/Governing Body/Team/Sponsor of the Year category.

The Yahoo Sports Technology Award judges praised The Ocean Race for being 'incredibly ambitious'.

"This entry demonstrated a complexity of tech implementation that far surpassed its rivals. The project faced many arduous obstacles to bring people into an otherwise completely inaccessible event. This spanned a well thought-out strategy, excellent delivery in tough circumstances and an incredible story of innovation across all aspects of the sport."

The hat-trick success comes just a week after the Race won a pair of prizes – in the Sustainability and Social Development and Cutting Edge Sport categories – at the BT Sport Industry Awards.
