Midland Sailing Club celebrates 125 years

by Alan Birch 22 Apr 2019 11:36 BST 22 June 2019

The Midland Sailing Club will shortly be 125 years old and on Saturday 22nd June 2019 there will be a party to celebrate and to look forward to providing sailing, friendship and enjoyment for future generations of Birmingham and Black Country residents for years to come.

There will be a race at 1300, followed by a tea, then "fun and games on the water" for all ages and then a hog roast or similar. If there are by then any takers there will then be a "solstice" race in the late evening!

All present and former members, friends of the Club and their guests are encouraged to attend. Particularly welcome will be those former members who joined after the Centenary. Register your interest and receive further details here.

Just a mile from Birmingham City Centre, sailing on a notoriously fickle winded 65 acre reservoir in inner city surroundings the Club has produced national championship winners from the high standards of its racing, but also encourages newcomers from its training programmes and Sail Birmingham initiative.
