Richard Lilly and David & Vicky Lenz excel in the brisk conditions
The competitors were faced with a chilly brisk easterly wind for race 6 of Lymington Town Sailing Club's early series. The fast handicap fleet were set a windward leeward course using two movable marks. On the first lap several boats misjudged the position of the downwind mark but Richard Lilly sailing his RS700 held on to his lead which he then extended during the rest of the race. There were a number of capsizes including second placed Kevin Podger and Heather Chipperfield in their RS400.
For the medium fleet, the race officer set a figure-of-eight course giving some high speed reaches downwind which the Merlin Rocket sailed by David and Vicky Lenz enjoyed establishing a substantial lead over the other Merlin Rockets. Also enjoying the conditions was Nigel King in his Phantom finishing second on the water and on handicap when the results were calculated.
