Two America's Cup commentators, Tom Ehman and Richard Gladwell chat, debate, and compare notes on the latest happenings on the America's Cup and wider sailing scene.

Now based in San Francisco Tom Ehman covers a lot of ground, having been around the America's Cup since 1977, and has been part of four US teams: New York YC, San Diego YC, St. Francis YC, and Golden Gate YC, plus he has substantial experience on the administrative and rules side of the America's Cup as well as the wider sport.

Three years ago Ehman started SailingIllustrated.com - his first real foray into the sailing media, introducing a hard-hitting live chat show format to the sport, drawing on his extensive experience and international network of contacts, and featuring guests/commentators/sailors speaking online from their home location.

On "Friday with TFE" he talks with Sail-World's NZ Editor Richard Gladwell, online from Auckland, looking at the current issues of the America's Cup including the Settlement which by-passed a scheduled Arbitration Panel Hearing over Entry Fee Payment dates and the wider impact this could have on the entered teams - particularly the three Late Challenges.

They also look at the state of the 2021 America's Cup Race and who is leading the charge, and why, and rank the Challengers. There's also have a look at the strategies of of the Super Teams compared to the three late Challengers and when they will launch their first AC75's and maybe only AC75's for some teams.

Then there's a look at the construction of the America's Cup bases in Auckland, with the first due to be handed over to the teams in less than six months time - there's plenty of images, project updates from the Wynyard Edge Alliance - and the latest plans explained.

Gladwell and Ehman don't agree on everything and have their own information from different sources, which get put on the table.

Moving on from the America's Cup, they touch on to the issues currently facing World Sailing, the 2024 Olympic Class selection and argue their opposing views on the dropping of the contentious action against double Olympic medalist, Iker Martinez (ESP) over a boat measurement issue at the Hempel SailingWorld Championships in Aarhus, Denmark last August.

There's a look at what the America's Cup and other major sailing events can learn from the JJ Giltinan 18ft skiff live coverage - and particularly the use of the on the water commentary team in the Camera Cat.

The last time these two crossed swords it generated 15,000 views, easily the most viewed show of the 160 broadcasts to date.

And don't miss the next "Tuesday with TFE" where Tom Ehman will have his former team-mate, Laurent Esquier online. Esquier also has a long history with the America's Cup going back to 1970, and the French Challenges. He is now CEO of the Challenger of Record organisation.
