Ogston Sailing Club's Woolley Jumper

The second event of the 2019 Midlands Mini Series was hosted by Ogston Sailing Club. Saturday morning brought fog and then bright sunshine and record temperatures for February!
Three races were run in 7-10 knots, the winners were spread between the Aero 7 sailed by Roscoe Martin from OSC and the Scorpion sailed by Andy McKee / Steve Graham. Everyone retired to the bar where drinks and pie & peas were served!
Sunday was a different story: the water looked like glass for most of the morning until around 10am where a ripple appeared and the first race got under way after a 30 minute postponement at 11am.
The first start was a general due to a few pushing too hard! Then the black flag went up and Matt Rawson in his Enterprise nailed a port end flyer with the Scorpion following closely. The wind shut off after the second lap and only four boats finished within the time limit.
After waiting around for wind during lunch, the decision was made that 2pm was the shut off for the second race of the day. At 1:45pm the wind filled in and a second race was held in a constant 5-6 knots.
Everyone enjoyed the visit to the Derbyshire hills and look forward to the third event of the series at Staunton SC next weekend (2nd/3rd March).
