Aquila is introducing its newest power cat, a 30-footer with twin Mercury outboards, at the Miami International Boat Show. The latest entry into the Aquila fleet, which goes up to 48-feet, the new 30 has a single cabin and a head and shower, and will go into the MarineMax Vacation charter fleet as well as into the large MarineMax dealer network for sale to individual buyers.

The new Aquila 30 come on the heels of the Aquila 36, which had two cabins. The 30 is simply a smaller version of its larger sibling. An overnight cruiser for two, the 30 is built as a fast, fun boat with an aggressive contemporary look. The 12-foot-plus beam provides for a lot of living space, while the twin hulls give a smooth, stable ride.

An unusual feature of the boat is the large swim platform, about two feet long, that wraps around the two outboards. It is power-loaded so it is submersible at the touch of a button to provide access to the water for swimming and water sports.

The helm on the starboard side has two adjustable seats with storage underneath. There's a convertible single seat on the port side that can be adjusted to face forward or aft. A summer kitchen also is to port, and there are settees on both the port and starboard sides. These are all protected under a hardtop with two opening hatches.

Below, the berths are to port, and the head and shower are to starboard. There are two inviting sun lounges on the foredeck, accessible through an opening in the windshield.

The Aquila 30 is designed as a user-friendly, almost maintenance-free boat. We don't know which size outboards the builder will put on the boat, so we don't have any performance figures yet. Those will be available after the Miami show.

Aquilas are made for MarineMax by the Sino Eagle Group, a high-tech Chinese builder.

  • Disp.: 13,227 lbs.
  • Fuel: 356 gals.
