Adventure awaits competitors of the 51st Marlay Point Overnight Race for trailer sailors. The family oriented event is staged each year on the Gippsland Lakes in eastern Victoria. Last year's fleet of 250 boats reflects the popularity of the event with many competitors returning year after year and staying on to enjoy the Lakes.

Often referred to as the Sydney to Hobart for trailer sailors the Marlay Point offers the rare opportunity to sail a long distance race at night, with full rescue facilities on course.

A handsome bulkhead "brag plate" is presented to each competitor.

The fleet is divided into Divisions using the Marlay point handicaping yardstick, ensuring close competition between similar boats and a fair rating for the overall fleet. Provision is also made for class divisions (eg TS16's, Careels, Noelex, etc) within a division. Team racing also gives competitors another opportunity to take home some silverware.

This year's race will be held on 9th March with the start scheduled just after sunset at 7.45pm. Marlay Point is situated on Lake Wellington, 20km from Sale in eastern Victoria. Entries are accepted on line with all information available on the website, www.mponr.com
