New fast Tactical T-40: Tough on the outside, luxurious on the inside

Tactical Custom Boats has just delivered its first T-40 Adventure boat, powered by twin 627-hp Seven Marine outboards, to a new owner in the Pacific Northwest. The tough-looking, aluminum-hulled, go-anywhere new Tactical 40 with a luxurious interior (and a superyacht heritage) is said to cruise at 35 knots.

A fast cruiser with an attitude, the new T-40 was designed by Greg Marshall in Victoria, B.C., who usually works with expedition cruisers and superyachts. For its part, Tactical is part of Platinum Marine, with a plant in Richmond, Vancouver. Platinum also owns Crescent Yachts, which builds luxury superyachts over 100 feet.

As a result of all this input, the T-40 is tough on the outside and elegant on the inside. The hull is protected by a foam collar, like that of a RIB, for extra protection. But the salon and galley have the same hardwood fit and finish that you'd find in a superyacht.

A Seakeeper 5 gyro-stabilizer is standard, so are the glass helm console with wireless controls, three joystick stations for easy docking, bow and stern thrusters, four C-3 Shockwave suspension seats for a soft ride in rough water, a powered sunroof, a mullion-free aft window, and fully opening aft doors for warm weather.

Below, the master stateroom has a queen-sized berth and twin hanging lockers plus a head with shower. A single berth aft is optional.

Specifications:

  • LOA: 40'4"
  • Beam: 13'7"
  • Draft: 2'6"
  • Disp.: 25,000 lbs.
  • Fuel: 650 gals.
  • Water: 100 gals.
  • Power: 2×627-hp Seven Marine outboards.
