Phillip Turner's Alive has been announced as the overall winner of the 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.

The 66-ft Reichel/Pugh design is the first Tasmanian yacht to win the race since 1979. Turner and his crew, comprising skipper Duncan Hine and navigator Wouter Verbraak, were rewarded for their historic success with the Tattersall Cup and a Rolex timepiece at a presentation held on Constitution Dock.

A full wrap-up release of the 74th edition of the race will be published on Monday 31 December.
