The 52 crews contesting the International Cadet Nationals on the River Derwent had a long wait to go sailing on day two of the championships.
The 30 knot north-westerly wind, gusting to 45 knots, prevented any sailing for the small off-the-beach boats until 4.30pm with the one race sailed in Hobart's long summer twilight.
With the breeze easing by then to a pleasant 10 knots on a warm and sunny evening, Sandy Bay Sailing Club race officers were able to complete one race for the day.
After three races, first place is shared by two boats, as are the next overall placings.
In race three SBSC crew of Archie Ibbott and Sam Hooper sailed Little Devil to a 30 second win from fellow club members Hugo Allison and James Gough in Shmoken, third place going to Sparkle (Emma Kelly and Will Farnell) from Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
After three races for the National Championship, Sparkle and Little Devil are equal first on seven points with Hyper Hyper (Tom Johnston and Kate Johnston) from Sandringham Yacht Club and Shmoken sharing the next place on 13 points.
