The CYCA is offering seven lucky guests the opportunity of a lifetime – to play an active part in the invitation-only SOLAS Big Boat Challenge, held on Tuesday 11 December.

eBay auction listings have been created and are now open for the annual maxi yacht race, a vital lead-up event ahead of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, with bidding closing 2000hrs on Sunday 9 December.

Positions aboard InfoTrack (two positions), Black Jack, Naval Group, Scallywag, Wild Oats X and Wild Oats XI have been donated – with all money raised through the auctions donated to the CYCA's Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Trusts.

Winning bidders will receive a guest spot aboard the yachts for the race that commences at 1230hrs.

Links to auction listings follow (click the yachts' names for full listing):

SOLAS was set up as a charitable trust in 1999 as a result of the tragic events of the 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. It has donated more than $1,600,000 since that time. The Trusts' objectives are to provide assistance (financial and other) to immediate families of those lost at sea during Australian Sailing sanctioned races; to make donations and provide support to search and rescue organisation; and to foster and fund research and training to improve safety and rescue procedures and equipment used in ocean races.

Please note, the boat owner has the final approval that the guest may be on board for the race. In the event of a denial the winning bidder will be refunded. The winning bidder will be required to sign a disclaimer available from the Organising Authority.
