The 1st event of the inaugural Tasar Scottish Travellers Trophy was held in predominantly light winds at Loch Earn Sailing Club over the weekend of 29th/30th April. The club boats were joined by two visitors which brought 8 boats to the start line, which included one new Beithwaite boat and two others sporting the new rig.

The first race lasted nearly two hours and was won in very convincing fashion by Colin Tait, crewed by his son Calum sailing one of the new boats. Graeme Busby and Duncan Bond took second in a very close tussle with two other boats, in the end a few seconds separated second, third and fourth places with Graham Donaldson taking third. Race two was run in slightly more wind, which came down the hill side behind the club to present some 'interesting' wind shifts. The Taits again took a narrow victory with Donaldson getting the better of Busby on the line by half a boat length.

Sunday brought the steadiest breeze of the weekend, but it still struggled to reach 5 knots and eventually disappeared to virtually nothing. Colin & Calum Tait made it a hat trick of wins to tie up the event from Busby and Bond after a very long race as the breeze died away. The boats who were caught as the breeze dropped had a painfully slow last leg. Third place was taken by Sean Tait crewed by his Mum Mandy.

As usual Loch Earn ran a great event in difficult conditions and made the visitors most welcome.

The next round of the travellers trophy is being held at North Berwick on the 3rd/4th June, the promise of some wind and waves on the north sea will lure more of the growing Scottish Taser sailors to the start line.
