Shotwick Lake Sailing Frostbite Open Series - Races 5 & 6

An impressive entry of 29 boats took to the water at the weekend for the 5th and 6th races of our Open Frostbite series. The weather was perfect with a light to moderate south-easterly breeze blowing diagonally down the lake coupled with unbroken autumn sunshine.

However, the large fleet didn't cause any problems for Geoff Weir and the race team who successfully ran the two races without incident; no mean feat on our restricted water!

The racing was dominated (not unusually) by the Solos of Gordon and Gaz who took one race each.

They were followed home in the first race by Mark and Jeanette (Enterprise) and Dave and Zara (Miracle). It's good to see the double-handed boats making an impression. However, in the afternoon's race it was the turn of the single-handers with Zac (Optimist) third and Paul (Streaker) fourth.

It's been a great series so far with a total of 43 entries with visitors from Chester, Gresford, Llandudno and Rydal. At the halfway stage the overall positions are:

Why not come and join us.
