At a sold-out event at The Star Casino on the Gold Coast last Friday night, the Queensland Tourism Awards took place with over 1,000 people attending from all over the state. Cumberland Charter Yachts again took home a silver award for Unique Accommodation including 12 other winners from the Whitsundays with 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze making it the second highest number of awards for a Queensland region behind the Gold Coast.

General Manager of Cumberland Charter Yachts, Sharon McNally was ecstatic to be awarded silver and was quick to thank the staff, who without, the success of the business wouldn't be possible.

"My staff's dedication to their work across all areas of the business astounds me each day." Said Mrs McNally

"The business wouldn't exist either without all of our boat owners, who entrust us to look after their investments and allow us to offer holiday makers quality yachts to charter. Thank you also to the sponsor of our category Capri by Fraser."

Mrs McNally also acknowledged the rest of the winners from the Whitsundays saying that it was a huge coup for the region and commend everyone for the time and effort put in to their awards submissions.

Tourism Whitsunday CEO Natassia Wheeler said "What an incredible tourism industry we have in the Whitsundays. Tonight's recognition showcases the quality of the operators in our region."

The Queensland Tourism Awards, which are hosted by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), cover 30 different categories and recognise the outstanding achievements of operators across the state.

QTIC Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind said the 34th Queensland Tourism Awards had attracted a high calibre of tourism operators across all award categories, with more than 170 entries received state-wide.
