The 50th year Squib celebrations come to a spectacular finale this Saturday at Burnham, the home of the country's most successful keelboat class, when a new Rondar Squib will be given away at a celebration dinner.
The lucky winning ticket will have come from 12,000 given away for entering Squib races during this season. The number of tickets per race were predetermined and awarded at club, open and national level to encourage participation in the class's 50th anniversary year, which culminated in the spectacle of one hundred boats at this year's Cowes Week. Over 300 class members have taken part.
The prize is a brand new foam sandwich Squib kindly donated by Rondar, plus a set of sails, donated by Hyde Sails, spars by Super Spars and fittings by Allen Brothers. All in all around £20k of free boat just for going Squib sailing... no wonder the class has had such a good year!
