The 2018 Sailing Chandlery Midland Series Solo open meeting was held at Bartley SC in glorious sunshine and a steady force 3 for most of the day. It provided excellent and close racing for the twelve boats taking part.

After a brief postponement whilst the promised south westerly kicked in, the regatta got under way with four races allowing one discard. The planned four races took place in idyllic conditions and a superb job was done by Race Officer Simon Hardiman and his crew.

The first race was won by Alan Bishop from Girton SC with Ian Ingram of Earlswood Lakes second and Bartley Sailor Howard Eeles in third place.

The second race was won by Nigel Davies from Draycote SC with Ian Ingram in second and Alan Bishop in third place.

A welcome lunch break was taken before the two afternoon races. The third race was started on time and again won by Alan Bishop with Nigel Davies in second place and Bob Suggitt of Barnt Green SC claiming third place.

The final race was won by Ian Capener of Bartley with Chris Brown from Draycote SC in second and Ian Ingram in third.

The final totals showed the same points for second and third places so final placings had to be decided by the best low score. This gave the final regatta results as: first Alan Bishop (Girton), second Nigel Davies (Draycote) and third Ian Ingram (Earlswood).
