Blithfield Barrel Winter Race Series 2018/19 - Preview

Feeling the Laying-Up blues? Then it's time to... "Roll out the BARREL, we'll have a BARREL of fun". As the first frost bites, Blithfield welcome the season with your favourite winter warmer event for 2018/19, The Barrel.

Blithfield welcomes all our friends from across the counties and fleets, to compete in the Midlands premiere race series. Comprising 4 days of top class racing, starting on 25th November, continuing on 16th December and 13th January and finishing on 10th February, 8 races in total with 6 to count, briefing at 11:15, race starts scheduled for 12:00 and 14:00 each day, make sure the dates are in your diary.

The event is sponsored by Freedom Brewery, Creation Covers, Dinghytec and Birmingham Dinghy Services. Prizes are awaiting the top positions on each day of the competition and there will be numerous prizes awarded across the various finishing positions, fleets and demographic, everyone is in with a chance! The now legendary Blithfield hospitality awaits with excellent wholesome food from the galley, bar available throughout, and free tea and coffee.

Blithfield have hosted a number of prestigious events this year; Enterprises, OK's, Ospreys, Larks, Lasers, Merlins and Supernovas. Blithfield have honed their hosting and race management skills to the max, the Barrel promises to be extra special this year.

All monohulls with a PN greater than 845 are welcome. Racing is run in accordance with the RYA average lap racing guidelines, if it gets too busy, two consecutive flights will be introduced to ease start line congestion. Entry fee for single handers is £10, double handers £15, or £30 and £45 respectively for the whole series.
