San Diego Yacht Club is pleased to host the PCISA/ISSA Girls National High School Invitational Regatta on October 20-21, 2018. Founded by SDYC's Mary Brigden-Snow, this is the largest National, High School Girls regatta today. The SDYC junior program is uniquely positioned to host events like this. Our outstanding junior facility, a fleet of 24 CFJ's, and an armada of coach boats, means teams from around the country can be hosted at SDYC.

The Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association (PCISA), is the west coast district of the National Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA). PCISA has over 100 member schools and 900 sailors, competing in the sport of sailing. High School sailing is by far the largest active organization in junior sailing, and is growing annually. PCISA regattas regularly host 350 kids competing up and down the west coast.

The winners of the 2017 PCISA Girls Invitation was The Bishop's School Knights followed by the Point Loma High School Pointers in second and Corona del Mar High School Sea Kings in third. Piper Holthus, now sophomore at the Bishop's School participated for the first time as a freshman in 2017. "It was pretty exciting to win my first year on the team. We were lucky that my high school had a lot of amazing girl sailors on the team that gave us a lot of depth, a lot of skill, and a lot of momentum going into the regatta. It is also so great to have an all-girls regatta and to compete with other girls in high school sailing at such a high-quality event. It can be daunting to go into a regatta competing against mostly boys, so this regatta is a great opportunity to compete with all girls."

The Girls Invitational Regatta will be sailed in the shoal area, around the corner from the Harbor Police dock at the end of Shelter Island. There will be great spectating from the park at the end of Shelter Island. Each of the six national High School Districts are sending teams. We expect 20 to 25 (all girl) teams, or 180 sailors to participate.

Come on out and watch some of the best high school girls in the country compete!
