Once again, congratulations are due to the race team for laying a sailable course in very tricky conditions with light 4k not South Westerly wind.
Starting off Pi at the entrance to Pylwell lake up "C" Colten then back to Pi via the gate, down to a special mark, then Pi and back to the finish at the Platform.
Fifteen boats came to the starting line. The top three boats for most of the race were; Chris Torrens X5 Madcap, Nik Froud X72 Venus, and Rory Paton X48 XL. Starting poorly, Stuart Jardine on Lone Star X119, with only three boats behind her, two were late arrivals and a third, John Miller X16 Mystery, who heard the recall for the two late starters and assumed he must be over despite his crew telling him he was not over the start line.
Fortunately for Lone Star, crewed by Chris Sanders and Doug Rogerson, she at last found the necessary high pointing and maintaining her speed to catch up the bulk of the fleet and on rounding Colten moved up to fourth place on the run back to Pi with Lone Star finishing only 1 minute 30 seconds behind the leading boat. The fifth boat Barry Dunning, X176 Crumpet a further 2 minutes 15 seconds astern.
At the end there were 12 finishers with Excalibur X87, Lucrecia X140 and Persephone X92 retiring.
