The 420 class will hold their Autumn Championships at Royal Lymington YC over the weekend of 22 and 23 September and are expecting a great turnout as they start their season of winter events and coaching.

With a number of members of the class moving on to the 470 or going off to University and a crop of new helms and crews, and some new pairings this event will provide much interest for the squad selection team, competitors and supporters. There has been a large amount of activity on the boat buying and selling front which is very promising.

The class has had an incredibly busy summer with teams competing at the Junior Europeans in Sesimbra and the Worlds in Newport RI, followed by the National Championships at Brightlingsea SC. Now they move on to a packed winter programme of events and open coaching.

The coaching team, led by Tim Rush, have put together a great programme which sees many of the sessions running at the same venue at the major events for the class, providing attendees with really great venue knowledge.

A number of 'Try a Boat' sails are being planned and will be advertised via the class website.

The Race team for the event are PRO Roger Wilson who is a master at running dinghy racing in the Solent and RO Adrian "Stog" Stoggall from the 2012 Olympics. They are planning for seven races over the weekend which should give everyone a fabulous weekend of sea sailing. Supporters and non sailors will be able to stretch their legs by walking from the club out to the sea wall where they'll be able to watch the racing.

The next event is the Inland Championships, which are being held at Rutland SC on 20 and 21 October. This event is a re-run as the original event was postponed due to exceptional wind conditions.
