Bart's Bash! 15th - 16th September 2018
Countdown to Your Event | Raising Funds for Your Cause
Hello Bart's Bash Supporters,

We're counting down the days to Bart’s Bash 5. This well-established fixture in hundreds of sailing club calendars over the world is all about increasing participation and we are going all out to make sure we inspire even more people to get on the water in Bart’s name.

This year we plan to go even bigger than 2014 and break our GUINNESS WORLD RECORD that was achieved in our first year. When registering, your club can choose if you would like to join in the World Record attempt. Either
way we would encourage you to sign up now to be part of this incredible global sailing event!

- Invite friends along; why not take a friend sailing for the first time?

From the heart of Andrew Simpson Foundation, we can’t express how much we are in debt to your enthusiasm and continued support for the Bash. Bart’s Bash is a local race on a global scale and we encourage you to use it as a platform to have some fun and get your friends and family on the water.

TAKING PART IN OUR GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

This year we are out to beat the record for THE LARGEST SAILING RACE IN THE WORLD we set in 2014 which was an incredible 9484 boats!
It's time to get fundraising!
Since its inception, the Bash has successfully raised funds for the ASF which in turn has helped a huge number of sailing projects across the world. This mass participation event has so far attracted an incredible 60,000+ participants across 847 sailing venues in 80 countries worldwide. As well as encouraging participation this raises essential funds to enable the Foundation to deliver on its key charitable activities:
  • Manage, organise and deliver Bart’s Bash – the world’s largest mass-participation sailing event
  • Carry out ground-breaking research into the benefits of regular sailing participation
  • Deliver seven community sailing programmes across four sailing and watersports centres, breaking down barriers to participation.
  • Train Volunteer Coaches and Instructors.
  • Provide practical assistance and small grants to other likeminded, not-for-profit sailing organisations.

FUNDRAISE FOR YOUR CLUB OR PROJECT
This year, your participating sailing venue will have the opportunity to raise funds for their own sailing projects, using the Bart’s Bash event as a fundraising platform. Raising funds through Bart's Bash to support the Andrew Simpson Foundation is still an option. Funds raised directly for the ASF will enable the Foundation to continue increasing participation and improving young people lives through sailing.

What sort of things can you raise funds for:
  • Buy Buoyancy aids, wetsuits, spray tops, gloves and footwear for your club. Use this as a chance to revamp your sailing kit and give more access to sailing to new and existing members.
  • Fund a specific project. Is there a local school or group who can’t afford to go sailing? You could use this as a chance to engage the local community and break down any financial barriers that might stop participation.
  • Train your members. You could use funds raised to train potential or existing instructors to allow you to increase participation at your venue. Train one, teach many.
  • A new boat to help increase your capacity at your club/training centre.
We hope that by making the fundraising plan personal to you we could have an even greater impact this year. Fingers crossed!
