On Saturday 25th August Blithfield held its first (hopefully annual) Youth Regatta. We decided it would be fun to try something new, everything was rather short notice, but it paid off and we welcomed eight boats for a day of fast racing, Blithfield lived up to its windy reputation!

The first race saw a battle between Lasers for first place, however Taylor Berry on his Topper won the first race overall on his Topper. The second race saw a similar story, with Taylor getting a second bullet, However it was Greg Cornes who nabbed the second in race 2.

The race committee of Tim Male and Pete Slack decided to run the last races back to back, the wind had really picked up at this point! The last race saw Greg Cornes as the winner, with Taylor Berry getting his first second. William Gould on his Contender placed 3rd in the race.

With the points over the three races, and a discard, Taylor Berry won the Regatta overall with his two wins, closely followed by Greg Cornes in his Laser Radial, with Lydia Barber taking third in her Laser Radial. Age group 1 was won by Ross Ferguson, with Jacob Townsend taking a second place. The age group 2 was won by Taylor, second went to Greg, and Tom Cashin received a third. The third age group was won by Lydia, with Will taking second, and Jamie Mason in third.

The day was a great success, Thank You to all those who helped make it possible at such short notice. We are panning to make an annual event at Blithfield and hopefully make it bigger and better for next year!
