Comet National Championship at Staunton Harold Sailing Club - Preview

A very warm welcome to everyone thinking of joining us at Staunton Harold Sailing Club for a fabulous three day Comet National Championships from 25th - 27th August.

Day one - 25th August will start with a briefing at 11:00 a.m. in the club house. This will be followed by the first race which is scheduled to start after 12:00 noon.

Entry to the event has an early bird price of just £50 per boat, if you register and pay before 10th August. Post 10th August entry per boat will be £55.

Social events

In addition to what we hope will be some great racing, we'll be holding a number of socials. Comet sailors, their friends and supporters are welcome as our Staunton Club members. Events include:-

Commodore's Reception at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday 25th August in the club house.

Meal and fun quiz at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday 25th August in the club house. The quiz will offer a light hearted bit of entertainment and will include a raffle with a range of generous prizes. Price per person is £10 please request and pre-book, when booking please specify any special dietary requirements (there will be a vegetarian option).

Informal BBQ on Sunday after the racing at £6:00 per person (again please pre-book and advise of any special dietary requirements).

Prize giving and award ceremony on Monday 27th August, post the racing in the club house.

Silver Wing Comet Open
You could hardly have wished for better conditions You could hardly have wished for better conditions for the 2025 Comet Open at Silverwing SC. An Easterly breeze of about force 3 to 4 due to veer slightly to the Southeast was nearly perfect. Posted on 13 May
Burghfield Comet Open
12 competitors and the race officer battle with the light winds The twelve competitors found a gentle wind across the reservoir on arrival at Burghfield's Comet Open on 26th April. However, just before the start the wind died away and what was left kept shifting by up to ninety degrees. Posted on 5 May
Comet Southern Aphelion at Littleton
15 entrants from 11 different clubs Littleton SC played their joker for a great sailing day for Comets after a year away from the venue. There were 15 entrants, 4 from the host club and 11 from 10 other clubs. Posted on 21 Sep 2024
Comets at Crawley Mariners
After a windless start, much to the RO's relief a moderate westerly wind settled in Seven visitors travelled some considerable distances to Hedgecourt Lake for the Crawley Mariners YC Comet open meeting on Saturday 14th September. Cransley Comet Open
An unusually warm northerly welcomes the fleet What a miserable year so far in terms of weather! Well, for one day at least, the gods looked down on our wonderful reservoir in Northamptonshire and welcomed 10 visitors as well as the 7 from the home club to a unusually warm northerly.
