It was fresh morning with a strong south westerly breeze. We had six entries for the first Speed Sails Enterprise Open to be held for several years at the club.

The first race commenced with E22598 A Yates leading E23055 M.Bottomley for the first lap but with superior down wind speed E23055 took and held the lead for the next four laps. On the last lap E22598 found a favourable wind shift on the left hand side of the beat and was able to retake the lead and win the race.

The second race was held after lunch with a strengthening wind and intermittent rain showers. E23055 M.Bottomly took e lead at the first windward mark and able to keep the lead for the rest of race. The second and third positions changed several times between E18744 R Angel and E22598 A Yates with E18744 taking the second position.

The rain and wind continued to increase and there was a course change for the third race. E18744 R Angel had the best start and held the lead for two laps until E23055 M Bottomly broke through. E22598 A.Yates then came into contention with and first three places changed several times in the closing stages of the race but E18744 took line honours followed by E22598 and then E23055.

This meant there was tie as three Enterprises had each come first, second and third.

Overall Results:

1st Roger Angell & Mathew Angel (Olton Mere)
2nd Andrew Yates & David Humphrey (Olton Mere)
3rd Martin Bottomly & Alex Hurst (Emberton Park)
