With the Volvo Round Ireland Yacht Race just four weeks away, Wicklow Sailing Club are delighted to announce an exciting programme of events for spectators and supporters which will run during the race build up, on the day of the race start and throughout the 2018 race week.

Kicking off on Thursday June 28th with a 'Meet the Sailors' party in Wicklow SC, featuring music from 'The Chosen Few', there will be a variety of events taking place daily, concluding with the 'Sailors Prize Giving' on Friday June 6th. Free entry to all events!

The main focus of the festival will be the race start day on Saturday June 30th, adding another dimension to the 2pm start of Ireland's Premier Offshore Yacht Race. We invite you to join us at Black Castle from 10am for a 'Family Fun Day' filled with fantastic events, and to soak up the atmosphere on the quay side as boats prepare to depart. Entertainment for all ages will run throughout the day, including the live showing of World Cup games on a giant outdoor screen.

This festival will add to the overall interest in the race, which already has a wide field of international competitors from the United States, Finland, Norway, France as well as Irish and British crews among the 60 entries to date.

On another note, Wicklow SC are delighted to announce that Newbridge Silverware has come onboard as a sponsor of the race. Newbridge Silverware will supply trophies and cups for the race, and their support is greatly appreciated. Enjoy a great day out at the Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre located just 45 minutes from Dublin. Shop the full collection plus eat at the award-winning Café Carleton, which serves food from 9am until 4.30pm daily. Admission prices to the Museum of Style Icons from €5 and Guided Factory Tour tickets from €10. See newbridgesilverware.com/tickets.
