Day 1

No wind, no racing. A beach day with swimming, sightseeing and Go-Karting. William Caiger dominated the RS Aero Speedsix UK Go-Karting Champs and Greg Bartlett had the most supreme wipe out, assisted by Liam Willis.

Day 2

Race 1 was held in a 4-9 knot breeze, with a strong 8-15 knots for Race 2.

The RS Aero 5s are locked in a tie break with Sammy Isaacs-Johnson and Kate Sargent sharing a 1,2 each.

Noah Rees leads the RS Aero 7s from Chris Rust, each with two solid scores after a testing first two races. Race wins went to William Caiger followed home by Roscoe Martin in Race 1 and Sam Whaley followed home by Craig Williamson in Race 2.

With the big boys in the RS Aero 9 fleet swelled to 22, Steve Cockerill snuck the first race win from Steve Norbury at the end of the run. The fresh breeze in race 2 saw Peter Barton at the front, chased home by Steve Cockerill.

Rule 42 & Appendix P Rules Session

National Judge, David Battye provided a wonderfully informative and educational session at the UK Nationals before taking to the water with App P applying to allow him to observe and Judge on the proceedings.

Day 2 - RRS42 Appendix P Rulings

Just 3 yellow flags over two races on Day 2. All were in Race 1.

  1. RS Aero 9s; After pulling the trigger, repeated (3) body pumps exiting the start line, each flicking leach.
  2. RS Aero 7s; Roll tack, exiting faster than entry.
  3. RS Aero 7s; Roll gybe, exiting faster than entry. Failure to sail clear satisfactorily initially led to an invalid and then an incomplete two turn exoneration initially and extra turns necessary to exonerate.
