Major commercial awards for Steber

by John Bulmer 29 May 2018 08:23 BST

Taree's Steber International has picked up two major awards at the Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG) annual conference at Sanctuary Cove.

The awards - 2018 Commercial Manufacturer of the Year and 2018 Commercial Industry Champion - Alan Steber have come at a high point in the company's 72 year history.

A delighted General Manager, Alan Steber said: "Major commercial projects for the Australian and overseas governments greatly contributed to the wins and to a huge year for us with staff growth and factory expansions".

"We received many positive comments during the conference and boat show with the main theme coming through load and clear - our vessels are built to endure, built to perform and built to last".

Current projects underway include construction of five 38ft naval support vessels for the Australian government, delivery of a 52ft resort vessel to the Seychelles and commencement of work on a 60ft fisheries research vessel for the Mauritius Government.

The Mauritius project represents the largest vessel every built by Steber. "During this boom year we have just employed an additional five apprentices, are seeking skilled workers across shipbuilding and carpentry sectors, and have started on a factory upgrade and expansion program", Mr Steber said.

The awards are sponsored by the Australian Industry Marine Export Group, which was established 20 years ago to support exporters with a united presence at trade shows worldwide as well as providing network opportunities and lobby government on policy and regulatory changes.
