Russell Peters and crew sailing Riff Raff was the overall winner in the RS Elite class on the second and final day of the Hayling Island Sailing Club Whitsun Regatta after trailing Colin Smith's Shaken Not Stirred by one point after the first day.

The event was very closely contested with Peters finishing on seven points while second and third places were taken by Paul Fisk and crew in Legs Eleven and Shaken Not Stirred, both finishing on eight points.

Weather conditions were challenging, with high winds on the first day and very light winds on the second day following a spectacular thunderstorm overnight. However, race officer Paul Maxfield was able to run the full programme of five races over the Saturday and Sunday. The competitors enjoyed exhilarating and sometimes challenging racing in gloriously sunny weather conditions.

Nine Elites raced on the windy Saturday and two more turned out on Sunday. Overall the multi-class regatta, which is now becoming an annual event was hailed as a great success with thanks to Vice-Commodore Sailing Andy Partington, Commodore Nick Peters and the whole HISC team.
