The RYA / Yachts & Yachting Club of the Year, Notts County SC held its Push the Boat Out day last weekend. The event was a great success with 220 newcomers getting out on the water on the Saturday, the Stratos, Cobbles and windsurfers were kept very busy.
The day started with the Club's Saturday Club were youngsters mess around in boats for a couple of hours, this often ends up with everyone getting wet, and lots of smiles as they gain water and sailing confidence, about 40 took part. Then the Charity Cake sale started in aid of Sail4Cancer and by the end of the day we had run out of cake, but raised over £500 for tis worthwhile cause. Meanwhile there was a constant stream of people as visitors queued for a go such was the response.
During afternoon racing we had a visit from the RYA camera who managed to get people in the Try Sailing vests, and interviewed them afterwards.
All in all a highly successful day, not only resulting in memberships on the day, but start sailing courses filling up, and many membership forms taken, we hope to see many of them down again.
