Get out and sail: Your weekly crewing update from MySail

Last weekend, instead of heading out on the water, I spent the weekend exhibiting at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club's annual Sail Expo event.
It was a fantastic two days; I met lots of new sailors, and also lots of people who have never sailed before but keen to try. Despite what many people outside of the sailing world think, sailing offers lots of ways for people to get involved. One of those ways is by crewing on other's yachts. It's a symbiotic relationship, as yacht owners often need more crew to help them sail, and the sailors can get involved without any significant costs.
One of the things I'm passionate about is helping people who are new to sailing get involved, so we can continue to grow our amazing sport. This week, I challenge everyone to speak with at least one person who has never sailed but is interested, and let them know how to get involved in your local area.

Wildfire – Perth, WA
Space sailer 22, 22 foot, SOPYC
Wildfire is a well set-up boat with good sails and happy, friendly crew.
She is looking for crew to join her for the South of Perth Yacht Club winter series, racing every second Sunday.

Kama III – Newport, NSW
Beneteau First 345, 34.5 foot, RMYC, ASC
Kama III races on Pittwater and coastal races north and south of Broken Bay.
They mostly race on Sundays, and Monday Twilights in summer. This year, the Kama III crew won first place in The RMYC Monday Twilight series 2017-18, Yellow Division.
Kama III is looking for some new sailors to join her crew. Previous experience is not critical; most importantly they are looking for crew who are keen to learn, improve themselves and develop into loyal members of the team.

Plan A – Sydney, NSW
Etchells, 30 foot, RSYS, CYCA
Plan A is looking for crew to join them for close racing in a one design fleet of 10 - 30 boats. They race with either 3 or 4 crew, depending on weight.
Over the winter, Plan A is doing the SASC winter series, held on Saturday's over 6 weekends, then next year plans to race in the RSYS spring / summer series.
