Crewsaver has announced a two-year sponsorship of professional sailor, Alan Roberts, who has plans to compete in the notorious Soltaire du Figaro – a month long race covering 2,000 miles at sea, which is popular with Vendée Globe hopefuls. Alan is by no means a Solitaire du Figaro rookie, he has claimed the position of highest British finisher for the past three years running and also enjoyed a historic finish in the Solo Concarneau Trophée Guy Cotton in April 2018.

Alan, who has sailed various classes all around the world, has a reputation of being a passionate sailor with a focused, methodical mind-set. Before entering the solo sailing circuit Alan achieved four UK National Championship titles and became the Endeavour Champion of Champions twice.

As part of the two-year sponsorship with Crewsaver, Alan will be provided with essential safety equipment and services, including branded lifejackets from Crewsaver's popular Fusion 3D range; the ErgoFit 290N Extreme and Crewfit 180N Pro. Alan will also be kitted out with search and recovery essentials including; emergency beacons, pyrotechnics and man-overboard equipment such as a rescue sling and horseshoe buoy. In addition, Alan will undertake in-depth #LifejacketSafe training at Crewsaver headquarters to cover lifejacket care and maintenance, rearming and repacking.

"We are delighted to have Alan join us as part of #TeamCrewsaver and as a #LifejacketSafe ambassador. Sea safety is a crucial part of Alan's sailing campaign - we not only aim to support Alan through the supply of safety equipment but also through the essential training needed to use the equipment effectively, helping to ensure he is prepared for the tough conditions he will face in both racing and training environments." - Hannah Burywood, Marketing Manager "Sailing can be a dangerous sport and, especially offshore, you are at the mercy of the elements and sea. When sailing single handed it is essential that I can deal with the conditions as there is no one onboard to help when it goes wrong. For this, it is key to have confidence in the safety kit I use, from lifejackets and tethers to prevent the worse, to knowing I have the best location devices and flares if it all goes wrong. It is easy to neglect and not test equipment that is rarely used but that your life could depend on. Learning to maintain and service the equipment is a must for any sailor leaving the dock and should become second nature." – Alan Roberts, Alan Roberts Racing
