The first event of J/70 Cup 2018, circuit promoted and organized by J/70 Italian Class, is about to start and, for the first leg, it will benefit from the hospitality of Yacht Club Sanremo.

On the starting line of the waters of the famous "City of Flowers" there will be 58 boats from nine countries, even if registrations will be open until few minutes before the start of the races, scheduled for tomorrow, Friday 6th, at 12.30pm.

"Confirming the numbers of 2017, that was for J/70 Italian Class an year of records culminating with the Audi J/70 Worlds in Porto Cervo is already a great success by itself - commented Vittorio Di Mauro, President of J/70 Italian Class, going on: "In the Class there are many newcomers, but it is also a pleasure to see some of the historical members of J/70 Italian Class being present on the entry list once again. This is clear demonstration that, further than being the One Design of the moment, the J/70 is a boat of which you don't get bored. The 2018 season, articulated over four events, will lead us to a 2019 in which we will face the great challenge of organizing the J/70 European Championship in Malcesine".

As anticipated by the President, the level of the Class is always getting higher: there will be crews who have made the history of the Class, including the world bronze and already Continental Champion Luca Domenici with his Notaro Team, the twice European Champion Claudia Rossi with Petite Terrible, the winner of the circuit in 2015 and 2016 Franco Solerio and his L'Elagain.

There will also be Achille Onorato on Mascalzone Latino, Alberto Rossi on Enfant Terrible, Mauro Roversi with his J-Curve, fifth at the Audi J/70 World Championship in Porto Cervo, Calvi Network in new clothes with Gianfranco Noè at the helm and Karlo Hmeljak at tactics, the silver fleet winner in Porto Cervo Alessandro Zampori with his Noberasco DAS.

To fight the veterans, many newcomers and some great returns in the class: among these, Uji Uji by Alessio Marinelli, Aniene Young by Luca Tubaro, Gullisara by Massimo Leporati.

With the registration procedures that have begun today, April 5th, in Yacht Club Sanremo, all that remains is to wait for the first start of the J/70 Cup season, scheduled for 12.30 on Friday.
