Heavy winds over 30 knots and a gale have postponed the first official start of the Europa Cup Laser 2018, an event that has drawn to Ancona, Italy, over 260 sailors from all over the world in occasion of the first leg of the circuit promoted by Eurilca and organized in cooperation with SEF Stamura.

The Race Committee presided by Pierluigi De Luise called the Laser Standard, 4.7 and Radial fleets out on the water as planned at 12am, but the heavy weather conditions forced them to interrupt the race of the Radial lasers few minutes after the start, sending all the other fleets back to the moorings as well.

"It has been an unlucky day today, the conditions were tricky: we could have hoped for some fun, exciting and wet racing, but the weather was not on our side and you cannot go against the will of the sea - commented Elio Libri, organizer of the event on behalf of SEF Stamura, adding: There are three more days of racing, tomorrow we will take the fleet back on the water at 12am and we plan to conclude three races".

Races will resume tomorrow, for an Easter Day under the sign of Sailing in Ancona.
