The 2018 Merlin Rocket circuit kicks off this weekend, 11th March, and we are delighted to announce that Craftinsure is once again supporting the fleet, and the Craftinsure Silver Tiller continues into its eighth year.

Over the next eight months the fleet will travel around the UK, travelling to seven sea venues, seven restricted venues and seven open venues. To qualify competitors, need to be members of the Merlin Rocket Owners Association and compete in at least five events from the list. The five best results count, including one in each category counts plus their two best results in any category.

The 2018 venues are:

  • Restricted; Wembley, Hamble River, Midland, Burghfield, Hollingworth, Tamesis and Hampton.

  • Sea; Pwllheli, Brightlingsea, Hayling Island, Whitstable, Shoreham, Castle Cove, and Lymington Town.

  • Open; Bartley, Chichester, Salcombe, Starcross, Aldeburgh, Parkstone and Blithfield.

Rod Daniel from Craftinsure comments; "The Merlin Rocket is undoubtedly one of the dinghy thoroughbreds. It's a thriving class, very popular with both helms and crews, also known to enjoy a great social aspect! We are proud and delighted to be closely involved with the MROA and hope to be so for many more years to come."

Silver Tiller organiser Olly Turner has been hard at work planning the season. "We have a few good old faithfuls' that the fleet return to each year and this year it's great to introduce a couple of new ones, Bartley and Castle Cove. Can Andy 'Taxi' Davis and Alex Warren retain their title, or will we be crowning a new Cratinsure Silver Tiller Champion in Lymington on 20th October?"

The 2018 Craftinsure Silver Tiller starts with Bartley Sailing Club on Sunday 11th March. For more details on the class visit www.merlinrocket.co.uk or check out Merlin Rocket on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram #MerlinRocket.
