Saturday 27 January saw the demolition of South Windermere Sailing clubs old wooden clubhouse, built by members in the 1960s.
It was a sad thing to witness, especially for those with such happy memories of the old shack. But the main feeling is that the club is its members, not a building, and the members are now looking forward to a brave new world, where the floor is warm, where the showers are hot, and the wind doesn't whistle underneath the front door. Should all be completed by the start of April (so we are told by the National Trust). Bring it on.
