The Enterprise fleet looks set for an excellent 2018 championship with the return to Exe Sailing Club. Always viewed as a favourite venue, the appeal of spending a week sailing at Exe means that helms and crews are getting their entries in, and booking accommodation in the popular resort.

2018 will see a number of innovations in the championship including the use for the first time of SailRacer trackers. Fitted onto every boat, the trackers will enable the fleet to review their race tactics and performance after each race. "Trackers are a great way to combine on the water performance with some onshore hints and tips on race tactics and strategy," says Enterprise Association's new incoming Commodore Richard Pryke.

On arrival at Exe, a team of experts will be on hand to help competitors with their boat set up and tuning, as well as ensuring each boat conforms to the class' strict one design criteria.

With joint title sponsorship from Allen, North Sails and Gul, there will be a great array of overall, special category prizes, not to mention further daily prizes and registration goodies from Kingfisher, Selden and Staydri.

In addition to sailing and the usual 'apres sail' activities for which the Enterprises are renowned, Exe also has lots to offer for all the family.

Bob Horlock, from Exe Sailing Club says, 'In addition to kite surfing, which is highly popular in this area, there are many other ways to keep active in and around Exmouth. Beautiful sandy beaches, miles of coastal and inland walks, local attractions, and picturesque scenery dotted with villages and nature reserves. There's great cycling along the Exe Cycle Trail to Exeter and beyond, or you could hire a canoe in Exeter and paddle the Exeter canal. There's plenty to do in the local area.

Following on from Exe, the 2019 Enterprise Nationals will be at Mounts Bay, followed by Looe Sailing Club in 2020. The class have been invited to a World Championship in India in February 2019 and will continue to be part of the popular SMELT events.

Go to the Enterprise Association website to enter online and see accommodation options. Note the entry fee early deadline discount runs until 31st January – after that entry fees rise by £30.
