Ripon SC kicked off their winter evening social & training evenings with a fantastic session delivered by Ian Turnbull from rope4boats.co.uk on Friday 5 January.
32 members were talked through the basics for making an eye splice, a tapered sheet and a continuous loop in modern ropes. Ian also gave a quick lesson on modern rope technology and their strengths and weaknesses in various applications.
It was a really social evening, having a go at a new skill and learning it's not as easy as it looks.
Thanks to Ian Turnbull for his patience and humour in trying to teach 32 beginners how to splice in three hours; we had a great time!
