Allen Brothers, the leading British manufacturer of performance hardware for sailboats, has announced that it will be expanding its production capabilities with the purchase of a second Vertical Machining Centre. The company, which has seen a positive rise in production and growth throughout 2017, has estimated that the planned expansion will be an investment of around £100k.
The addition of another VMC will mean that Allen Brothers can manufacture and supply a greater number of products whilst still maintaining the highest quality of finish and also reducing the lead time of products significantly. A VMC machine uses a vertically orientated spindle that approaches a work piece mounted on the fixing table from above. The new machine offers a range of 20 tools that can be programmed to produce extremely complex designs and spin up to 8100rpm meaning each product that requires milling will be finished to the highest standards whilst increasing production efficiency.
During the growth Allen Brothers has seen in 2017 the company has also decided to revamp the design office. The team behind all of the innovative sailing hardware have been moved to a new office with state of the art design software allowing the company to progress forward and stay at the forefront of sailing technology.
Allen has also invested in the recruitment of new staff throughout 2017, with the addition of another welder, production line workers, Delivery Driver and CNC Turning apprentice.
"It's been a very exciting year for us, launching new products and seeing increased demand for CNC machined products. Here at Allen we don't just manufacture high performance sailing hardware, we also cater for custom projects and non-marine customers. The addition of the VMC will allow us to keep our workflow as streamlined as possible." commented Liz Adams, Managing Director of Allen Brothers.
The company plans to continue to carry the growth forward into 2018, where they are looking forward to another exciting year of new product launches.
