Eight home and 11 visiting helms turned up at Bartley SC on the outskirts of Birmingham, for the Bartley 2016 Rooster Midland Series Solo Open Meeting. It was a glorious sunny day but very light wind.

The planned 4 races took place in very trying conditions; a superb job was done by Race Officer Simon Hardiman and his crew.

The first race got away on time and was won by Ian Ingram from Earlswood Lakes SC with John Ling, who usually sails a Laser at Bartley, in second place and Midland SC sailor Mark McKeever in third place.

The second race was won by Bartley sailor John Ling with Bart Green helm Bob Suggitt in second place and Mark McKeever Midland SC in third place.

A quick lunch was taken so that the two races scheduled for the afternoon could take place before the wind dropped off completely.

The third race was started quickly as the wind picked up slightly but was very shifty. This race was won by Ian Ingram from Earlswood Lakes SC with Bartley helm John Ling in second place and Mark McKeever from Midland SC claiming another third place.

The final race was delayed while the O/D & crew moved the marks & waited for the wind to settle from yet another direction. The final race was won by Chris Brown from Draycote SC with Mark McKeever from Midland SC in second place and Stuart Norris Shropshire SC claiming third place.
