Frensham sailing youth section have a dilemma. Seven of their young members have been selected for the Cadet UK team for the class World Championship in Argentina. The dilemma is that to ship both crews and boats to this event will cost around ten thousand pounds.

A Frensham senior helm Peter Wood has stepped in with a proposal. Peter is chairman of a local company: Case Station. Case Station manufacture and sell cases for mobile phones and other electrical equipment. Peter has offered a donation of £10 for every online purchase that mentions FRENSHAM CADETS.

Frensham is a very challenging sheet of water to race on. It is notorious for windshifts and strong gusts. Crews soon learn to keep looking outside the boat and anticipating both wind and racing tactics. The club has earned the reputation at "the nursery of champions" and the clubhouse honours board has some eighty names of national, European and world champions. All in a variety of different dinghy designs.

The club takes youth training very seriously and there are training sessions every Saturday followed by class racing in both Cadet and RS Tera single-handers. The sailing club is running this charity with a big event at the club on Saturday October 8th.

Donations to this worthy sailing cause are most welcome however small. Cheques can be sent to Frensham Pond Sailing Club, Pond Lane, Churt, Farnham, GU10 2QA. Please write Cadet on the cheque. For online donations products from Case Station must have Frensham Cadets mentioned with the order.
