The Europe Class is undergoing somewhat of a metamorphosis this last year, perhaps the analogy of the phoenix is more appropriate? With a new website and fresh blood on the committee, the enthusiasm and zest these sailors have for their class is unrivalled by any other.

This year, the national championships will be held at Dalgety Bay SC in Scotland. For those of you that have never been to Dalgety Bay before it is a lovely stretch of water to sail on with great views of the Forth Bridges. You might even get a seal to pop-up and say "Hello"!

As part of the club's annual regatta there will also be RS400 Scottish Championships and Eurocup, RS Tera Pro /Sport Scottish Championships and also a Laser traveller event for all rigs. So it will be an excellent opportunity to showcase the europe and show just what these little boats can do.

There is free camping available to all in the grounds of the club (need to book beforehand). On the Saturday night there will be entertainment/social provided at the club and for those not sailing Edinburgh is a short train ride from Dalgety Bay and can be seen from the club grounds. It will be a big, fun regatta which you could make a family weekend of it.

Overall there is a 100 boat limit so make sure you enter online via Sailracer but beware that there is a late entry fee if there are still spaces after 28th August. There will be be at least 2 local boats on the water and another available to charter.

If you are keen to go to the nationals this year but are reluctant to trail or drive to Edinburgh, flying would be your next best bet. There is the possibility of sharing a multi-stacker between 6, traveling from Southampton and back again. Edinburgh airport is only a quick train or taxi trip across the bridge. Contact Emma Pearson (GBR332) if you are interested.
