Almost perfect conditions at Lancing SC greeted sailors from across the South and South East regions on Sunday 17th July. The wind alternated between force 3 and 4, and Lancing's famous waves provided an offwind sailing treat.

Race Officer Barry Goacher laid an excellent course to the W/SW wind and had the unusual privilege of starting 6 laser races at the first attempt 'with the tide' and only one OCS all day.

In the Standard fleet, the leading 3 were remarkably consistent and regularly pulled away from the rest of the fleet. Craig Williamson (Hayling Island) won all 3 races, Adam Stone (Burghfield) was second x 3 and Gregory Bartlett (Starcross) was third x 3.

The Radial fleet saw some very close racing with plenty of place swapping, particularly offwind, with the result being that the top 3 sailors went into the last race equal on points. David Saunders (Hillhead/Stokes Bay) sailed his best race of the day to take the overall win.
