D-One UK National Championship at Royal Torbay Yacht Club - Day 2

by Chris Sallis 9 Jul 2016 23:24 BST 8-10 July 2016

A strong south westerly breeze greeted the fleet with gusts in excess of 20 knots. Nick Craig revelled in the conditions taking 3 bullets to tighten his grip on the championship and continue his quest for 7 straight. The chasing pack all interspersed good results with major wipeouts resulting in only a few points separating 2nd to 5th. Martin Browne had a good day with a 2nd and a 3rd upgrading him to 4th, Humphrey Carter lies in third with Chris Sallis a couple of points ahead in second.

The whole fleet enjoyed some sensational downwind legs and epic beats and were happy to get ashore after 3 excellent races run by the RO and his team. The forecast is for similar conditions tomorrow and there will be a fight for podium places with the added incentive of some excellent sponsored prizes from Suntouched Sailboats.
