UK Global Flying Fifteen Nationals at Hayling Island Sailing Club - Overall

by Simon Thompson 4 Jul 2016 11:35 BST 30 June - 3 July 2016

Jeremy Davy and Martin Huett become the 2016 UK National Champions

After an absolute beasting on the Bay for the first three days, the Championship finished with a serene backdrop to give many of the sailors a well-deserved rest. Blues skies, sun shining and the wind gently pushed the fleet around the race course for the final three races.

Tide and shrewd tactics were essential to control for Jeremy Davy and Martin Huett to hold their overnight lead which they did admirably recording two 2nd places and a fourth, to become the 2016 UK National Champions.

Richard Lovering and Matt Alvarado taking second overall with Greg Wells and Richard Rigg with a second in the last race to clinch the last place on the podium.

There's a lot to look forward to for the Fifteens with the European Championships coming up in August and World Championships early next year in Napier, New Zealand.

Next year's Flying Fifteen Nationals are in Falmouth in late September; a return after a long absence to another great sailing venue.
