It's fifty years ago this summer since Grafham Water Sailing Club was officially opened by HRH Duke of Edinburgh and, to celebrate the occasion, we're running a 9 hour handicap race for dinghies, catamarans and keelboats (Flying 15 etc) with a PY of 1200 or faster.

The race starts at 10:00 on Saturday 2nd July and we expect each lap to take about an hour and take you on a tour of the lake (it's over 3 miles long and a mile wide!). The race will finish between 18:30 and 19:30.

You can swap crews as often as you want (or not at all?) and entry is £10 per boat for visiting boats, and free for boats based at the Club. You can enter using our online entry system at www.grafham.org/events/grafham-water-sailing-club-50th-anniversary-9-hour-race – no entries will be accepted on the day.

There's free camping and parking for campervans on Friday and Saturday night and the Club café will be open all day, with a BBQ on Saturday afternoon/evening and the bar will be open too.

Please come along and have a fun day at Grafham and help us celebrate our 50th anniversary.
